It’s called Takin. Ta-kin. It is, according to zoologists, a kind of goat, though, with his portly figure, more akin to a cow. The national animal of Bhutan – a small Himalayan country located between India and China. Is he – like so many other species, unfortunately – vulnerable, threatened with a life in this world where large herbivores have more chances than to live undisturbed in their natural habitat. It’s an animal still uncertain and controversial position in the phylogenetic tree of mammals complicated: who is he, a relative, anyway? asks zoologists, whose group belongs?
